Today, we’re announcing €20 million in funding led by Index Ventures, with participation from angel investors including Markus Villig (Bolt), Daniel Dines (UiPath) and Tomas Okmanas (Nord Security).
Europe’s opportunity starts at home
We started Nomos with a clear conviction: connecting millions of homes to the energy market can help bring Europe’s electricity costs to a competitive level. By coordinating when homes consume, store and sell electricity, we can create the flexibility the system needs to support more solar across the continent.
The assets are already being deployed: solar on rooftops, batteries in basements and EVs in driveways. Much of their flexibility remains disconnected from the market. Batteries can store solar electricity when it is abundant and release it when it is needed. EV charging can shift to cheaper hours. Connecting these assets to the market can help households lower their bills and earn more from the hardware they own.
Building an AI-native power company
Turning that opportunity into a simple household product means solving an enormous systems problem. Every change in how a home consumes, stores or sells electricity affects how we forecast demand, procure power and settle payments. Households need a way to benefit from the system’s price signals without having to manage that complexity themselves.
That is why we’ve built Nomos as a full-stack power company. Today, we’re a regulated electricity supplier and balancing responsible party in Germany, built by a small team in Berlin. At the centre is Nomos OS, the software we built from the ground up to run our operations, using automation and agentic AI to manage work that traditionally requires large teams.
That work spans forecasting the behaviour of individual households, managing the risk of price spikes, trading electricity and handling liquidity. It includes regulated market communication, metering, billing and customer support. These systems have to work together: a trading decision affects liquidity, a missing meter reading affects billing, and both ultimately affect the household. We have to understand the details well enough to automate them reliably.
This infrastructure lets us reach households through the manufacturers and installers they already choose. These companies offer energy products under their own brand while we run the electricity supply and operations behind them.
Help build Europe’s largest power company
Our ambition is to build Europe’s largest power company by connecting millions of household assets to the energy market. We spent our first years building the software and regulated operations to make that possible. Electricity supply and solar export are already live, with battery and EV flexibility trading next. This funding allows us to grow the team that will take these capabilities to scale.
Automation lets us take on more scope and responsibility as we grow. We want every hire to be an intentional decision about the expertise and ownership we need next. We’re growing quickly and building this team on-site in Berlin.
We’re looking for kind and brilliant people who care about this problem and its details as much as we do. People who want to understand how the system works, take responsibility for it and build something that lasts.
Power to you.
